City driving asks different things of a vehicle than the open highway does. You want something small enough to slot into a tight parking spot, quiet enough to make stop-and-go traffic pleasant, and efficient enough that daily errands don’t turn into a chore. An electric vehicle handles a lot of that naturally, since it runs quietly and skips the gas station entirely.
The 2026 Volvo EX30 is the entry point to Volvo’s electric lineup, and its compact size makes it a natural fit for busy streets and short trips. Here is a plain look at what the EX30 offers a city driver, from its footprint to its range.
At 4,233 mm long with a 2,650 mm wheelbase, the EX30 is Volvo’s most compact SUV. That size pays off in the city, where shorter overall length makes parallel parking easier and turning into a narrow lane less stressful. It still sits tall enough for a clear view over traffic, so you get the upright seating position that draws many drivers to an SUV.
Range anxiety fades quickly once you see how far the EX30 goes. The Single Motor Extended Range version travels up to 420 km on a full charge. For most city drivers, that means charging once a week or less, since daily urban trips rarely add up to more than a fraction of that figure.
The EX30 comes in two setups. The Single Motor Extended Range sends 268 hp to the rear wheels and reaches 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, which is plenty brisk for merging and city pace. Drivers who want more urgency and all-wheel drive can step up to the Twin Motor Performance, which makes 422 hp and hits 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.
Inside, a 12.3-inch centre display anchors the cabin and runs Google built-in, so Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store are ready without a phone tether. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are on board as well. One-pedal drive lets you slow and stop using the accelerator alone, which suits the constant speed changes of city traffic.
Every EX30 arrives with Volvo’s core safety technology, including collision avoidance support, blind spot information, and lane keeping aid. Front and rear park assist and a rear park assist camera help when you are threading into a snug spot, and higher trims add a 360-degree camera with a 3D view.
